YouTube Channel Search
Turn any YouTube channel into a searchable knowledge base. Search through every word spoken across hundreds of videos and jump directly to the exact moment where the answer is explained.
- What is YouTube Channel Search?
- YouTube Channel Search is a VidNavigator product that indexes every video on a public or unlisted YouTube channel and lets viewers ask natural-language questions, returning timestamped jump-points to the exact moments in the source videos. Creators can share up to three password-protected portals per channel with students or clients.
Why YouTube Channel Search?
- Semantic Search — Search by meaning, not just keywords. Ask natural language questions and get precise answers from video content.
- Timestamp Precision — Find the exact second a topic is discussed, not just the video. Jump directly to the relevant moment.
- Public & Unlisted Channels — Works with public channels and unlisted videos. Perfect for courses, training, and private content.
- Shareable Search Portals — Generate password-protected links for students, employees, or clients to search your channel.
How It Works — Step by Step
Go to VidNavigator Studio > Channels. Search for your channel (or authenticate via YouTube OAuth for unlisted channels) and start scanning.
VidNavigator retrieves transcripts for every video on your channel and indexes them for search. Progress is shown in real time.
Ask any question in natural language. The system finds the most relevant video moments, returns AI-generated answers, and provides precise timestamps.
Click 'Share' on any scanned channel. Set a title (e.g., 'My Python Course'), add an optional password, and generate a private search link.
Send the link to students, employees, or clients. They search the entire channel without needing to create an account. Password protection is optional.
Share Your YouTube Channel as a Course
One of the most powerful use cases is sharing an unlisted YouTube channel as a searchable course. Host your course videos as unlisted YouTube content, connect the channel via OAuth, generate a shareable search link, and share it with your students. They can search across all course videos, ask questions in natural language, and jump directly to the exact moment where the answer is explained. You can create up to 3 shared links per channel, each with its own title and password.
Before: 'Watch this entire 40-hour course'
After: 'Ask a question → get the exact answer in seconds'
Built For
Course creators hosting content as unlisted YouTube videos can give students instant search access. Reduce support load and increase perceived course value.
Organizations using YouTube for onboarding and training can turn video libraries into searchable knowledge bases for faster learning.
Public YouTube channels with hundreds of videos can offer viewers a powerful search experience that finds exact moments instantly.
Pricing
You might think indexing hundreds of hours of video is expensive, but it is incredibly cost-effective.
Channel scanning consumes YouTube transcript credits, and 1 credit covers up to 200 video transcripts. This means a channel with 1,000 videos can be fully scanned with just 5 credits. Daily searches consume standard video analysis credits.
